Other Greater Yellowstone Fly Tyers

This collection of flies are representative samples from some of the best current and former tyers in the world, or in the case of Wombacher and Bailey, historically important commercial tying operations located in the Yellowstone region. These tyers happen to have all lived and fished, or currently live in, arguably the best trout habitat in North America-the Greater Yellowstone ecosystem encompassing Montana, Idaho and Wyoming. Their western patterns are battle tested, bold, imaginative and wonderfully unique to this special part of the country. Take a close-up look in the slide show at a sampling of the best-of-the-best and historical contributors-past and present.

Note: Legends like Jack Boehme, Don Martinez, George Grant and Franz Pott and others are naturally also included in the listing of Greater Yellowstone tyers. Their works, however, are included under their own pages in the collection given the additional historical impact of their contributions.

Coming Attractions: New pictures will be posted again in the Winter of 2012 to add an original Martinez Nymph, creative spring creek patterns from the Harrop family, Jack Gartside terrestrial creations, soft hackles of Syl Nemes and an early loop-wing, blue dun by Andy Puyans. There are also some wonderful historical flies recently acquired from Bud Lilly in the 1960s that are one of a kind. So check back in after the rainbows have spawned and the Baetis are popping for some interesting updates.
