George Grant

(1906 to 2008)

George Grant's flies are some of the most unique flies ever to test western rivers. George was raised in Butte, Montana and claimed the Big Hole river as his home water. He is the author of one of the best books written on the early history of fly fishing the west--Montana Trout Flies. He has also authored Master Weaver a guide to tying his hair-woven patterns which evolved the hair weaving techniques originated by Franz Pott. Following are a series of his flies that range from some very early stone-fly patterns to his later presentation flies that were sold to raise funds for restoration of trout habitat across the country.
